Swift Produce, Inc.
Celebrates 43rd Anniversary!
In a proud statement issued from their company headquarters, Swift Produce announced that 2011 is the 43rd Anniversary of the founding of their business. The company was started in 1968, the same year that the first commercial flight between New York and Moscow took place. Maybe in the near future, commercial flights will travel to the moon.
The space program continued with the success of Apollo 8. Astronauts Lovell, Anders and Borman were the first astronauts to orbit the moon.
Our newly elected president was voted in by the narrowest margin since 1912. President Nixon would soon find out what living on the edge was all about. In other political news, Jacqueline Kennedy wed Aristotle Onassis. We also suffered a great loss with the assasination of two promising leaders this year, Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy.
Great introductions this year included the non-reflective windshield, "Calvin Kleins", the Levi Strauss women's clothing line and the "Big Mac".
Yes, when you think about it, things have changed a lot in 40 years. But, after all this time there are some things which have remained the same. One good thing is that Swift Produce is still around and thriving after 43 years of hard work and lots of dedication by everyone involved... and most importantly, caring about customers who helped us reach this milestone.
In sports, it was a repeat of victories as familiar names took multiple titles. Green Bay took its 2nd straight Super Bowl Title when they beat Oakland 33-14, and Billie Jean King captured her 3rd straight Wimbledon title. In Oakland, Catfish Hunter pitched a perfect game, and the Detroit Tigers beat the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series 4-3.
On television, we watched Mission: Impossible, Adam 12, Laugh-In, 60 Minutes, I Spy and Get Smart. On the big screen, popular films were Charley, Faces, Funny Girl, The Producers and 2001: A Space Odyssey. The Best Picture of the year was Oliver!
